"Skeeter"
Glenn
Arthur "Skeeter" Glenn is a native of Richmond, Virginia. He is the
trumpet sound of the Centaurs, but also plays fleugelhorn, keyboards, guitar,
and sings. As in the case of virtually all of the band members, Skeeter began
playing a musical instrument as a kid. At age 8, he started trumpet lessons.
These formative years set Skeeter on the journey that would lead him to his
place today as a member of one of the hottest 3 piece horn sections anywhere!
Along the way,
Skeeter played in the well-known Richmond horn band, Gregory D and the Mainmen.
Prior to his stint with the Mainmen, he had been selected first chair, first
trumpet from elementary school through high school and was selected to
all-county, all-state, and all-regional bands.
Skeeter's musical influences are two of the best anywhere…Maynard Ferguson and
Doc Severinsen, and he has performed with such greats as Ike and Tina Turner,
Dionne Warwick, and Van McCoy of "Hustle" fame.
"I had pretty much decided that I was through playing professionally because most bands didn't have the right work ethic," exclaims the high-energy Mr. Glenn. "So you can imagine how I felt when I got the call from the Centaurs! I jumped at the chance to play with high caliber musicians and quality people. If I hadn't gotten that call, I wouldn't be playing on stage today."
"Skeeter is an amazing asset to this band. He is always fired up and excited, he is a superb musician, and he also does so much behind the scenes to help me. I couldn't do it without him!" says leader, Ron Moody
